Let's talk about hope. Not just the fleeting kind that comes and goes like an afterthought, but the powerful force that transforms lives, builds communities, and changes the trajectory of people’s lives. That's exactly what we witnessed at this year's Malachi's Message Hope Warrior Gala.
On December 7, 2024, hundreds of warriors, supporters, and change-makers gathered at the Four Seasons Austin. Our mission? To shine a light on mold illness and create real, tangible change for those affected.
Malachi’s Message Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission it is to raise awareness and provide education and financial support to people impacted by mold.
Since January, 2023, I have been so honored to serve as the Vice President and on the board of directors of this incredible organization.
Here's the truth, my friends: Mold illness is a silent epidemic that doesn't discriminate. It sneaks into our homes, our schools, our offices – places where we should feel safest. But here's what makes my heart sing: We're not fighting this battle alone anymore.
This year's gala wasn't just an event – it was a testament to the power of collective action. Through generous donations, spirited auction bidding, and heartfelt connections, we raised crucial funds to support families facing the devastating financial burden of remediation and treatment.
Malachi’s Message Foundation was proud to feature Dr. Peter Osborne and the debut of his documentary, Mold Jacked. As a doctor treating people with mold illness, Dr. Osborne witnessed first-hand the toll of hidden toxic mold in the indoor environment on himself, his family, and his home, which inspired the pursuit of telling the stories of so many like himself in filming this documentary, which will debut December 2025.
But beyond the numbers (which were incredible, by the way!), something even more powerful happened. Stories were shared. Tears were shed. And most importantly, hope was restored.
My biggest fan, my husband Chris, joined me again this year and together we watched as survivors connected with others who understood their journey. We recalled how our own marriage took a toll due to mold and we celebrated everything we have overcome as individuals, as a family, and as a couple. We saw medical professionals, building experts, and advocates coming together, all united by one purpose: to ensure no one has to choose between safe housing and medical care.
To everyone who attended, donated, or supported from afar – you're not just giving money.
You're giving families their lives back.
You're giving children a chance to thrive.
You're giving parents the tools to protect their homes and loved ones.
