10 Cost-Effective Ways to Achieve a Healthier Home and Body
Today was such a fulfilling day! We hosted our first live-webinar specially for members of The Conscious Collective™. The webinar was entitled, “Wellness Within Reach: Transforming Your Healthy Home Mindset”.
In this collaborative event, one thing was clear—the attendees were seeking practical solutions and guidance that could be implemented NOW to help increase their faith in the belief that healthier homes are available to EVERYONE.
This conversation inspired today’s blog.
Without further adieu…I present—10 cost-effective ways YOU can achieve a healthier home and body.

In our quest for better health, we often overlook the simplest and most cost-effective solutions right under our noses. Your home environment and daily habits play a crucial role in your overall well-being, but it’s not the only thing that impacts your health.
In today’s blog, let's explore ten budget-friendly strategies to transform your living space and lifestyle into a haven of health.
1. Declutter Your Space
We've all heard the saying "less is more," but when it comes to a healthy home, this couldn't be truer.
Clutter isn't just an eyesore; it's a significant source of stress and dust accumulation.
By simplifying your living space, you're not only creating a more peaceful environment but also reducing the number of surfaces where allergens and dust can settle.
Start small - tackle one drawer or shelf at a time. You'll be amazed at how liberating and refreshing a clutter-free space can feel.

2. Maintain Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
The air you breathe inside your home can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air. Yikes! Two simple steps can make a world of difference:
Switch to non-toxic cleaning products: Conventional cleaners often release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can irritate your respiratory system. Opt for natural alternatives or make your own using simple ingredients like vinegar (where possible) and baking soda. I also love Branch Basics, in part, for it’s versatility. Also consider some essential oils (careful with kids and pets as some EO can be toxic to them).
3. Monitor and Manage Indoor Air Quality
4. Keep Pets Clean
Our furry friends bring joy, but they can also bring in unwanted bacteria. Regular pet maintenance goes a long way:
Wipe paws after outdoor adventures (I love these wipes)
Schedule regular baths
Keep pet beds and toys clean
Remember, a clean pet contributes to a cleaner, healthier home for everyone and clean paws helps to mitigate actinomycetes.
Need to learn more about “Actino”? The Informational Guide on Actinomycetes has the info you need to know.
5. Embrace HEPA or ULPA Filtration
When it comes to cleaning, not all vacuums are created equal.
Invest in a vacuum with a HEPA filter, which can trap particles as small as 0.3 microns.
This includes dust mites, pollen, and even some bacteria.
Regular dusting and HEPA vacuuming can significantly reduce allergens in your home.
6. Sweat It Out
Remember that your physical and mental health is directly tied to your living environment. But, your living environment isn’t the only thing impacting your health.
Exercise isn't just about staying fit - it's a powerful tool for detoxification. Detox is important to lower your toxic load/burden on your body. Think: toxins in need to be less than toxins out!
When you sweat, your body expels toxins through your skin.
Regular workouts can help reduce your overall toxic load, improve circulation, and boost your immune system.
If you are physically unable to workout, consider a sauna to help get you that deep, cellular detox. There are lots of sauna options out there for you—even consider a HotWorks membership or some gym memberships come with access to saunas if that’s available to you and the facilities are verified to be well-maintained.
Also consider your ability to use your climate zone in your favor. Spend some dedicated time outside in the sun doing an activity you enjoy, whether it's yoga, running, dancing or rebounding, or even gardening. You get some added lymphatic system movement with many workout options that you can do right in your living room and you get the positive effects of grounding if you’re working with the dirt!
7. Embrace Nature
In our tech-driven world, we often forget the healing power of nature.
8. Limit Inflammatory Foods
What you put into your body is just as important as your environment. Certain foods can trigger inflammation, leading to various health issues. Consider reducing or eliminating:
Alcohol
Dairy
Processed sugar
Gluten
Everyone's body responds differently, so pay attention to how these foods make you feel and adjust accordingly. I personally don’t believe in eliminating anything forever, but listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
9. Practice Gratitude
Mental health is an integral part of overall wellness.
Cultivating gratitude can shift your perspective and reduce stress.
I love to start my day by listing things I’m grateful for—our improved health, my husband’s loving and forgiving nature, all of the talking my children do, community, the job that provides for my family, my comfortable bed, my ability to clean and maintain my home—acknowledging all of these things and more helps set my brain up to seek validation that these things are all true.
Try it yourself and see how you alter your perception. When you alter your perception, you impact your reality.
10. Implement a "Shoes Off" Policy
Last but not least, a simple yet effective strategy: remove shoes at the door.
Remember, creating a healthier home and lifestyle doesn't have to be expensive or overwhelming. Start with one or two of these strategies and gradually incorporate more as you go, as you’re able, and as it feels good to you.
Your body will thank you!
